The head tie is a signature traditional dressing accessory in many pre-modern day African societies. It has been revered as a symbol of modesty and beauty and has been passed down from one generation to another, gaining acceptability and prominence. However, in recent years, the head tie has seen a great decline in use as the younger generation of women are tilting towards western modes of adornment threatening this age long accessory with extinction.
